USC: The Home For Tennessee Coaching Retreads
With this week's hiring of the boy blunder, USC now has two former Tennessee coaches at their school. I still have nightmares of the Kevin O'Neill era and the awful basketball it produced. I think I witnessed more 48-47 games than any man should have to view in a lifetime. He was a disaster in the pros and did his best to almost ruin a proud Arizona name. I was however treated to some of the most profane language ever witnessed on Earth. I happily jotted them down just in case some life event would make me that angry. For the record I still have the notes but still haven't found occasion to use them.
Now flash forward a decade and the Trojan AD has come calling to do us another favor, to relieve us of the mistake that Mike Hamilton made 14 painful months ago. Lane Kiffin either has pictures of GM and ADs in compromising postions or else takes Layla with him to every single interview.
It's been since Shawshank Redemption since I have seen a man wade through so much crap and still come out smelling good. Pete Carroll gave him a job at USC because he owed a favor to Monty. He rode Norm Chow's coattails and took advantage of several rejected offers and Al Davis's inability to hire respected coaches. UT threw him a life line for one reason, he was available and was bringing his daddy.
Now he and Dont Go To Class Orgeron are USC's problem and the NCAA can close down the satellite office that had opened in Knoxville.
