Turmoil At Nebraska Football
October 16th 2007 18:12
Yesterday the Nebraska Cornhuskers fired Atheltic Director Steve Pederson after the football program got the wood put to them by Oklahoma State 38-0 by half-time. Nebraska is a very proud football school and they eat and breathe Nebraska football in that state. There really is no other sports that people talk about more in Nebraska than college football.
Bill Callahan was brought in by Steve Pederson and hasn't really done much to turn the program around. This isn't really much of a surprise to me or any other Nebraska fan. The roots of trouble runs deep for this one proud football program. Nebraska just doesn't get the top players like they use to. Other schools are getting them and Nebraska is left with the leftovers. As you can see the leftovers are never as good as the main course. Thus the football program has struggled.
Firing the AD I guess was a good first step, but this program is in a very deep hole that will take years to get out of. Until the football program gets a total overhaul they will forever be just another football program who once dominated college football who has fell to the side with so many others.
