Forget about the report that there is snow in all 50 states this year, that a groundhog in PA might have seen his shadow, or the weather almanac's talk of the equinox in March. Baseball fans know the real date of spring's arrival.

It's with the announcement "Pitchers and Catcher's report"

This year it's February 19th with the rest of the spring invitees only a week or so behind.


If you've never gotten a chance to catch a spring training game I would urge you to plan a vacation around this yearly ritual.

It's a great chance to see big baseball stars in small stadiums and without taking out a second mortgage to see a Major League game. The weather in Florida and Arizona is also a nice side benefit.
