Rush Limbaugh To own Part Of The Rams?
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is rumored to be joining a group that have placed a bid on the NFL's St. Louis Rams. Al Sharpton and the leader of the player's union have both asked commissoner Roger Goodell to block the attempt citing Limbaugh's racist leanings?
Is Rush a racist? I don't think so although I thought the Donovan McNabb comment was stupid and out of line. A lot of the comments attributed to Rush and making the rounds cannot be verified anywhere. Rush has even challenged them to find the source of the quotes or offer an retraction.
Is Rush divisive? Yes without a doubt, he was just as tough on Clinton as he is on Obama, but rapper Jay Z is partial owner of the Nets and has made far worse comments about whites and women. I don't recall much in the way of opposition to his bid.
I have always thought that sports as an escape from the "real" world of hate and politics and in that sense would probably rather not see it brought into the NFL.
I do think that Rush could keep the two separate and would do what it would take to put a competitive team on the field. There is no doubt that he loves football and is very competitive minded.
In the end it will be up to Commissioner Goodell and the other owner's to decide on Limbaugh's bid.
