Kiffin Heads West Does Muschamp Head East?

: Kiffin Heads West Does Muschamp Head East?
From everything I have heard tonight Texas defensive coordinator and head coach in waiting, Will Muschamp, will be the next head coach of the Tennessee Vols. According to multiple sources, Muschamp will hold a press conference in the morning to either accept the job or lay rest the rumors.

Muschamp resume from Wikipedia:

William Larry Muschamp (born August 3, 1971, in Rome, Georgia) is an American college football coach and the current defensive coordinator and linebackers coach[2] of the Texas Longhorns football team after previously serving in the same positions with Auburn and LSU. Muschamp has gained a reputation both for his excellent defenses as well as his excited and fiery demeanor during games and practice.[3][4] In his second season at Auburn, Muschamp was a finalist for the 2007 Broyles Award for the most outstanding assistant coach in college football.[5] The University of Texas has announced that Muschamp would succeed Mack Brown as head coach of the Longhorns, though no timetable has been set for him to take over the program.[6]

It's amazing how things can change in 24 hours, as USC was forced to go to their fifth choice in hiring Lane Kiffin away from the Vols. I think Lane saw how difficult it was to win in the SEC as UT was ranked seventh nationally in recruiting but just 4th in the conference. There is a reason that the SEC has won the last four national championships they have the best football teams. Kiffin should be able to win at USC with their recruiting base and in a much weaker conference. That is if of course the NCAA doesn't come down hard on the program over the Reggie Bush allegations or Kiffin doesn't do too many stupid things to add to their troubles.

Tennessee may be better off losing him now because the longer he stayed the closer the program might get to the dreaded death penalty over his habit of getting into trouble with the NCAA.

Other fall back names on Tennessee's list include:

Ole Miss' Houston Nutt
Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy\
Air Force's Troy Calhoun
TCU's Gary Patterson,
Connecticut's Randy Edsall,
Duke's David Cutcliffe
Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart

Of course they could also kiss and make up with Phil Fulmer but I really don't see that happening.

Athletic director Mike Hamilton needs to get this one right or he may be the one looking for a job soon.
