It's A Beautiful Day: Lets Play 3!

I was never fortunate to see Ernie Banks play live, but something tells me that the man known for his catch phrase "It's a beautiful day for a ball game... Let's play two" would have immensely enjoyed the NCAA regional game between Texas and Boston College.



The two teams met yesterday to help decide who will move on to the NCAA Super Regionals. It would take twenty five innings, just short of three baseball games, for Texas to earn the 3-2 victory.The game, which took over seven hours to complete, broke a 36 year record as the longest game in NCAA baseball history. There were also individual records set for at-bats in a single game.

Senior Austin Wood was the hero, pitching an amazing 13 innings and hurling 169 pitches. This after he had also pitched the previous night.

I bet somewhere out there Mr. Cub is saying, "Man those are some lucky guys" They got to play baseball all day."
