The home team has won each game in the series, but anything could happen in the winner take all game seven finale.
One thing is for certain though, there will be at least one octopus thrown from the crowd onto the ice. If we are lucky we also may get to catch a glimpse of the zamboni driver, Al Sobotka twirling a mollusk over his head, just like he has been doing for over thirty years.
The tradition of the "Motown Mollusk Toss" can be traced back to 1952 when brothers, Pete and Jerry Cusimano, thought it would bring good luck to the Red Wings. In those days of the NHL, it took only eight playoff wins, or one for each octopus arm, to win the cup. Today a team must win sixteen games to capture Lord Stanley's trophy but still the tradition has survived the changes.
