Sandra 1David Beckham Has A Tough Climb

I will admit i've watched David Beckham from afar and I do respect all he has accomplished in his chosen sport. Beckham got a hugh contract from the Los Angles Galaxy and I congratulate him on that but as far as bringing soccer to the mainstream in America that's another story.
Soccer is very popular among kids from 6-12 and you can see leagues everywhere throughout America, but then it slowly dies out when these kids get to High School. Soccer in America doesn't have any real big stars that kids can relate to like the other major sports like baseball,football, and basketball. Alot of this has to do with promotion and ads on television. When kids see players like Shaq and Dwayne Wade and others they tend to
play those sports instead of soccer. There are very few soccer or hockey ads which could explain why neither sport grows very much in America.
Hopefully Beckham will have a bigger role on television here and be able to reach the youth. I doubt it though as advertisers tend to stay away from sports like soccer and hockey in America.
